Nothing beats a weekend at the track says Andy Weiss, a GM engineer working on hybrids. He loves the traveling, getting set up and competition; it's the whole racing package.
But even better yet, Weiss reveals, is earning the National title. "Winning the GNF feels so good it lasts the whole year. You become the person to beat and you're the benchmark for the competition." |

The winding road that brought Andy to competing was just that. In 2001, after purchasing a Ducati, Weiss decided to road race inspired by the realization that he was traveling a little too fast on the street. He says, "I figured I'd go to the track and go even faster." Surprisingly, Weiss didn't pressure himself. "I didn't really have any expectations of myself that first year, but I wanted to win every race I entered.
Tim and Andy met at the S.D.O.C. (Secret Ducati Owners Club) where they would ride fast and pick up hot women. |
Regarding Tim's help with his race bike, Weiss says, "He's been very patient with me and is always willing to help out. He really held my hand the first year. He knows the complete package for the engine to make the system perform."
WERA National Champion - Andy Weiss 2006 was a year of change for Weiss as he attempted to get settled at work and home. He says, "I've been moving around a lot between Michigan and Milwaukee, but I plan to race more and hit the GNF in 2007."
